A natural treatment for eczyma for my toddler?

My 22 month old was diagnosed with eczyma the other day. There are alot of parabens and steroid treatment along with other scary chemicals in the potions that were prescribed to him. He is just starting his little life and I feel uncomfortable putting such nasty things on his skin that are absorbed into his bloodstream at such an early age. Does anyone know of anything out there that is natural and safe enough and might work on my son?

"Kiss My Face" brand "C's of the day" moisturizer. It has natural healing nutrients and helped me with my skin irritations. Vitamin c is very important for the skin and it also has clove in it too which kills bacteria.

This product is all natural with no added chemicals! They have many other lotions to pick from and even herbal soaps. I use the olive oil soap.

Go to vitacost.com and put the product name in their search engine. This site gives many discounts and will deliver it to your door at a very low price especially when you compare that to a doctors visit.

Remember to test a small amount fist as anyone can be allergic to even a vitamin.

    Good Luck!

Avoid dairy products, eggs, sugar, gluten, fats and processed foods.
Increase his consumption of raw fruits and vegetables, and he should be taking a children's multivitamin with B vitamins and Vitamin E.

My son had very slight eczema when he was a baby and I found that switching his bath products to Aveeno Baby shampoo, soap, and lotion (from Johnson's Head to Toe) helped clear it up a lot. A nurse also recommended bathing less often.

I found a list that you might be interested in: http://www.herbalremediesinfo.com/Eczema.html

Another thing you might try is to go to a natural foods store and ask what they have for it. Hope it clears up soon.

Eczema is really most often an inflammatory response to dietary sensitivities. The excellent recommendations JenD made will ultimately most likely have the biggest impact on clearing up the eczema. If you're interested to know more about this, or want some tips specifically for toddlers with eczema, please email me. I'd be happy to give you some additional info and some recipes, etc.

In terms of helping to hydrate and heal your toddler's skin…
DO NOT use vaseline. (Most commonly recommended by old-school MD's who are not aware of the new data on this product.) Vaseline is a petroleum based product and it has been demonstrated detrimental (bad) for exzematous skin! It isnt particularly hydrating and it can create an oxygen-free environment, increasing risk of moderate to serious secondary infections.

Consider instead using CASTOR OIL. This thick, viscous oil is extremely healing and hydrating. ***Just be sure to put it up somewhere that your toddler can't get to it, because taken internally (if he drinks it) the oil can be highly toxic. Even fatal at high doses.***

Castor oil is wonderfully healthy (and perfectly harmless) if you apply it to the skin, though. Apply it generously after a bath (or any time.) You can warm the oil slightly to thin it so it's easier to apply – - careful not to overheat the oil and burn the baby. :)

CALENDULA cream is also wonderful for healing all kinds of skin lesions… There are some fantastic calendula creams for kids. WELEDA makes a few great diaper-rash creams that are calendula-based.

If there is no broken skin, you can even try Traumeel. This is a homeopathic cream that will help with the itch, redness and inflammation. This product is NOT for use on broken skin – it will sting and it hasn't been thoroughly vetted for safety on broken skin.

Bathe the child every second-third day instead of daily, where possible. And consider tossing a cup of oatmeal tied into a nylon stocking into the bath. The "milk" from the oatmeal is very therapeutic to dry skin.

    Good luck!

Poor thing. Try this! I had eczyma like crazy as a child, and for relief, I used AVEENO OATMEAL BATH. It's basically powdered oatmeal that you sprinkle in a warm bath. It helps relieve itchy, dry skin while trapping and absorbing moisture into the skin. It helped wonderfully and best of all – It's all natural. You can even make your own, by throwing some dry oatmeal flakes into the blender. Hope this helps your little one. Good luck!

Box looks like this and can be found in any drug-store, or Wal-mart.

Does your child eat a lot of cookies or products made with wheat or white flour?

to treat and cure your child's problem it is very easy and you don't need to give him any chemicals ( medicines). Change his diet and you will see the difference within days:

    Here is the diet:

    NO white or brown sugar
ABSOLUTELY NO WHITE OR WHEAT FLOUR (bread, cookies, cakes, pasta, etc)
    No sodas
No artificially colored or sweetened drinks

If is possible try to get your baby to a doctor that practices natural medicine, also if he drinks milk, try to give him organic milk with no antibiotics and no hormones.
the reason why your baby has eczema is because he is eatin too much white flour and his liver is over-heating or producing too much heat, and that heat is producing rashes, it is only a warning sign but if you leave unattended can create problems in the future.

Calendula cream or camomile cream applied externally might help as both calendula and camomile contain anti-inflammtory active ingredients. But there are natural creams out there that contain some other natural anti-inflammatory plant extracts too.

?Here are some natural creams for babies for various skin conditions:
    http://www.buyorganics.co.uk/p-EczemaandFirstAid-85.aspx

Give your son Omega 3 fish oil….one that is specially formulated for toddlers. Try Holland and Barratt. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence for it helping eczema. And try to find one containing Evening Primrose oil too or Starflower oil as GLA in both of these oils may also help with eczema according to plentiful anecdotal evidence.

You are right to be cautious about those creams, and it is well known that steroid crams can thin the skin making it more fragile and vulnerable. Dove baby soap is pH neutral. Avoid other soaps as they are far too alkaline. There is also Dove baby wash (soap free: http://www.babyandparenting.co.uk/2007/02/19/mother-to-be-gifts-cool-expectant-mothers-gifts/ ). Some other liquid soaps/washes are pH neutral too. Here is a pH neutral baby shampoo:

Be careful what detergents you use in the laundry also and try to dress your toddler with cotton material next to the skin. For warmth any other material outer garments can be worn over the cotton.
