Natural treatment of thrush in pregnancy; anyone tried yoghurt?
I’ve had thrush for about 5 weeks, with varying severity of symptoms because I’ve been using clotrimazole (canasten) and even tried the pessary. The pessary stopped symptoms fully for about a week, but now its back.
Has anyone tried using natural, unsweetened yoghurt internally, as a treatment for thrush in pregnancy? And did it work?
i had terrible thrush when i was about 6 months pregnant, my mum told me to use yoghurt i looked at her like she was crazy! but i gave it a go, it seem to work really well and certainly cooled everthing down for for me! i want to bed with a huge pantliner like a tena lady and just put loads on and inside its stinks by the morning but it did help me!
i hope my advice works good luck and congratulations x

I have eaten it during a bout of thrush in pregnancy but, i was also using a canesten cream, so i can only guess which one worked first!!, its well worth a try though if you dont like using medication, and better for baby too x But if its returned after using a pessary i think its time you visited a doctor they usually give you medication after all else fails so eating yogourt would doubtfully work now.

Yes!! It works so well. Like you said, get the right yogurt and just use your clean finger and put some ‘down there’. i never put it ‘in’ as such but it had a cooling effect and i didnt have much problem through the rest of m pregnancy! good luck!
