What’s the best natural odor treatment for carpets?
I want to do a treatment on my house carpet. I have a dog and three cats. There are no urine stains or smells, but both human and animal bodies leave dead skin and hair (with naturally occurring bacteria) on every surface, and they’re more difficult to remove from carpet. I’d like to do a steam cleaning with an odor and disinfecting pretreatment, preferably with all natural and hypoallergenic ingredients (homemade solutions are also an option).
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Sprinkle your carpet with baking soda over your carpet, leave for about half an hour and then vacuum up! The baking soda absorbs all the odours!
Easy and cheap, and doesn’t leave nasty chemical smells.

i know you may think im crazy, but i use this method (my granny taught me) and i swear by it..
Put white distilled vinegar in a spray bottle, spray the entire carpet and let it set for about an hour, it will not remove color, so dont worry. Go over it after an hour and vacuum the carpet. when done, shampoo the carpet, the vinegar will not leave a smell at all and it takes any smell/discoloration out of your carpet, plus the vinegar helps in getting anything up from the carpet. try it on a small foot rug and you will be amazed! i have a 2 yr old and a dog and i love this method!
